What is a Bolt-on?
A Bolt-on is an optional paid extra. You can buy a Gold, Silver or Bronze Bolt-on.
All Bolt-ons:
- Increase your Grow credit limit
- Increase your Save limits
- Give you either free, or discounted access to our money wellness app, Nooli
Bolt-ons build your credit score faster by lowering your credit utilisation (that’s how much of your available credit you’re using).
What each Bolt-on includes
Adding a Bolt-on could help you:
- Lower your credit utilisation rate
- Increase the amount you save each week
- Get either free or discounted access to Nooli, our financial wellbeing app
Here’s what each tier offers:

💡 The cost of a Bolt-on is in addition to membership. You pay for a Bolt-on once a month on the same date you bought it, or using your Grow which is billed on the 1st of the month.
Do you need a Bolt-on?
There’s no right or wrong answer. Just what works best for you, and if you're not sure, we're here to help you figure it out.
You might want one if you:
- Want to build your credit history more quickly
- Are looking to show responsible use of a higher credit limit
- Want access to Nooli for support and guidance
- Are just getting started with credit-building
You might not need one if you:
- Already have a low credit utilisation rate
- Prefer a slow burn and don’t mind waiting to build your credit history

Starting small is still a step forward, so you could start with Bronze and see how it goes. It’s easy to step things up if you want to later down the line.
How to pay for a Bolt-on
You can pay for a Bolt-on in two ways:
- It’s billed to your Grow account. Grow is a line of credit which you repay once a month, a bit like a credit card. Your Bolt-on payment will be applied to your Grow, and you’ll pay for it on 1st of every month, alongside your other repayments, like your £2.99 membership.
- Using your payment method saved in your account. The payment is taken monthly on the same date you activated the Bolt-on.
💡If the Bolt-on is billed to your Grow, you must keep up your repayments. We report all activity to the CRAs, and like any other credit product, if you miss a repayment, it could hurt your credit history.
How quickly will you see results after activating a Bolt-on?
A Bolt-on can send positive signals to the credit reference agencies (CRAs).
What causes credit scores to improve is influenced by things we can’t always see.
That means we can’t guarantee results within a specific timeframe.
Using a Bolt-on alongside good credit habits (like making repayments on time and keeping your credit use low) could help improve your credit history.
🛠️ How to manage, cancel or switch a Bolt-on
Here’s how to make changes to an existing Bolt-on:
- Log in to your account
- Go to the Grow tab
- Below the active credit limit is your active Bolt-on
- Select View
- To change it, select Manage my Bolt-on
- Pick Gold, Silver or Bronze, or cancel as you need to
You’ll see the changed Bolt-on and billing date in your Grow. Changing your Bolt-on updates your Grow credit limit.
If you want to start using a Bolt-on, follow the same steps as above to reach your Grow page, then:
- Below the active credit limit is the option to activate a Bolt-on
- Select Add Bolt–on
- Pick Gold, Silver or Bronze and confirm

Why is my credit limit different to what’s listed?
If you joined Loqbox before May 2025, you might still be on our legacy Bolt-on. Changing your Bolt-on will update it to the latest limits.
Can I have more than one Bolt-on?
You can only have one Bolt-on active at a time. If you're switching between Gold, Silver or Bronze Bolt-ons, your new choice will replace your current one.
Can I get a refund if I cancel?
Bolt-ons are billed monthly and can be cancelled at any time.
When you sign up for Loqbox, you have a 14-day cooling-off period. That means you cancel your membership, and any extras like Bolt-ons, within 14 days, and get a refund.
Will cancelling affect my credit score?
Cancelling a Bolt-on may increase how much of your credit you’re using, which is known as credit utilisation. But your score depends on lots of things, so the impact varies.

Is Nooli available without a Bolt-on?
Yes. You can access Nooli separately, but Bolt-ons give you free or discounted access depending on your tier.
