Everything you need to know to keep Loqbox Rent running smoothly, and how to fix common problems without stress, is right here in this guide.
Quick summary:
- Reconnect your bank every 90 days to keep your rent payments reporting.
- Six consecutive rent payments are needed before Experian starts showing your rental history.
- Missed or unmatched payments won’t harm your credit score. We simply skip reporting that month.
Keep your bank connection active
Your bank connection is how Loqbox Rent identifies your rent payments.
For security, you’ll need to reconnect your account every 90 days. It’s a bit of admin, but it’s to keep your details safe, and required by Open Banking regulations.
We’ll remind you by email 10 days before your connection expires, and your Loqbox Rent dashboard will show a Reconnect button when it’s time.
How to reconnect:
- Log in to your Loqbox account
- Select Rent
- Select Bank status
- Choose Reconnect and follow the steps in your banking app
- If you can’t see a reconnect option, select ‘Change bank account’ and set up the connection again.
Tip: If you can’t reconnect, check if you’re using private browsing or incognito mode. If you are, switch to an open browser and try again.
Update your rent or tenancy details
If you’ve moved to a new home or need to update your rent reference, tell us your new details so we can track your payments correctly.
To update your details:
- Log in to Loqbox
- Select Rent at the top
- Go to Rent details
From here, you can:
- Update your rent amount, reference, and payment date
- Change your address if you’ve moved
Once you've told us your new address, we'll take care of updating your details across all your active Loqbox features, so you won't have to worry about updating it until you move again.
Keep in mind that you should manually update your address directly to the credit reference agencies (CRAs). Your home address needs to match the one on the CRA record.
💡If you move, your credit-building journey continues without gaps. We’ll set up a new Rent under your new address, and report to the CRAs as normal.
Problem solving: Payments and reporting
Missed or unidentified payments
If we can’t match a rent payment to your account, we’ll let you know by email.
- We never report it as “missed”, we’ll skip that month
- Your history won’t be harmed
There are some common reasons a payment is missed, but the good news is they’re usually easily fixed:
- Your bank details changed without reconnecting. Keep your bank account connected, and you’ll be back up and running again in no time flat.
- Your rent amount or reference changed without updating your account. Update your details and get back on track
When are payments reported?
- On the 21st of each month, we'll report the rent payment you made during the previous month. It takes approximately six weeks for this payment to reflect on your credit report.
- You need six consecutive rent payments before Experian starts showing your rental history. We can see historic payments if they’re for the same value and under the same reference.
- It can take up to six weeks after reporting for your file to update.
Close or reopen Rent
If your circumstances change, it might mean you want to close your Rent, or perhaps start it up again.
Before you close your account, there are a couple of things to consider:
- Closing Rent stops future credit reporting relating to your tenancy payments.
- If you start Rent again later, you’ll need six new payments before reporting resumes.
To close Loqbox Rent:
- Log in to your account
- Select Rent → Settings → Close your Loqbox Rent
- We’ll ask you why you want to close your account, and we use the details you give us to make Rent better, so be as honest as you like
- Select ‘Continue to close Rent’
- We’ll check one final time you want to close Rent. If you’re sure, select ‘Close Loqbox Rent’
All done! Your Rent is closed.
If you later want to use Loqbox Rent again, you’ll need to open a new account. It’s quick to set up, and we’ll guide you through the steps.
